MARKET PLACE 1594 survey

An account of the Market Place and it's development can be read in the Victoria County History. Part of the 1594 survey can be seen above.

MARKET PLACE map 1838

In 1822 post master Humphrey Tugwell, London Mail arrives at 10am and dispatched at 3.30pm; Oxford Mail arrives 12 noon and is dispatched at 3.00pm

In 1830 Joseph Bowerman, carrier leaves for London every Friday from Market Place

 

1832

 Ebenezer Lloyd was entitled to vote as held freehold houses on Market Place

 Henry Woolrich had a freehold house and was a resident of Hampstead, MSX

 Richard Kilmister Woodward had a freehold house

 Charles Bell had a freehold house and was a resident of Luckington WIL

In 1870 and 1876 carrier to Bristol from Prince & Princess

In 1876 omnibus from Market Place to Tetbury Road Station 11:40am
