COURTFIELD

Courtfield was an area between Combers Mead and Hampton Street that comprised three fields, two pasture and one arable.

In the 1910 Land Valuation Survey there were just over 33 acres classed as Court Fields, owned by Miss M.P. Fowler and occupied by Mr William Pride. There were 5 pasture fields which were classed as very fair. The boundaries were mainly of stone. At the entrance to the site were a cowshed and stables with a small yard surrounding. They were stone and tile built and in good repair. One of the fields had a long stone and tile cowshed in excellent repair. Timber listed was 51 good size elms, 7 beech and 8 sycamores.

The current housing was built in the late 1960s.
